Hillary's to Lose

Hc SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- I get a lot a rumbling about my assertion that the presidential race is HC's to lose.  The Republican Party is suffering from a triple whammy.  The lost the fiscal conservative label, the strong on defense label, and the moral imperative.   They've got a small campaign treasury.  I mean, everything is going against them.  Thus my assertion. The good news for Republicans, Hillary is perfectly capable of blowing the lead, much like this year's New York Mets, who were leading the league by 7.5 games with 17 games to go.  They're not in the playoffs.  NEW YORK Mets;  Hillary, NEW YORK senator.  Stay tune

Beware Congress, We're All in Hedge Funds

Hedge_funds SAN FRANCISCO, Ca --- Here's the dark secret about hedge funds -- we're all addicted to them and the  returns that only hedge funds can generate. Pension funds are at the front of the line. They're the junkies in the fund game.

For good reason. Unfunded pension benefits are estimated to be between $600 billion and $1.3 trillion, according to JP Morgan which released the most comprehensive preliminary estimate.  No wonder those 35% average annual returns produced by hedge funds are so addictive.

Democrat's Congress Approval Lower than President

SAN FRANCISCO, CA --  What an accomplishment. "Doing the Will of the People" has dropped the Dem's performance LOWER than their nemesis, the President.  Now, this is telling. You can't say they have not tried to cut off funds and abandon our troops in Iraq (apologize for the double negative.)  If the "people" were so set to end the war, why would they have such a low opinion (29% approval rating), and why would the President have a four point advantage.

The old farts in their party who control the major Congressional committees can't keep  a lid on their contempt.  The "people" are watching.  Their verdict:  The Dems mismanaged their mandate, and overstepped.  Foreboding for the 2008 presidential race.

Why Democrats Remain "Losers"

WASHINGTON —  Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on Thursday said the war in Iraq is lost militarily and "can only be won diplomatically, politically and economically" after more than four years of fighting.

There is no 'new' democrat party.  For decades, they've been losers, proclaiming the U.S. losers, made up of mostly politicians that see themselves as losers.  What does this 'loser' think the troops feel about this declaration, while they're putting their lives and limbs on the line 24/7?  Why in the world would you tell the enemy that you've lost.  One answer:  You can't help yourself.. that's what happens when you're a loser.

Iraq: What if They Did Find WMD

SAN FRANCISCO, CA --  Imagine, if you will, that two weeks after the excursion into Iraq we found massive depots of weapons of mass destruction.  Stockpiled neatly in various locations.  Where would we be now?  Would Congress have demanded we get out immediately.  "Mission Accomplished".  Or would there have been a consensus that we can't just leave a nation in shambles?  Once the centuries-long battle began between the sects in Iraq, and international terrorists flooded the nation, what would have been the call.

More importantly, the Sunni-vs.-Shiites battle would have erupted eventually, Iran would was heading toward bad-boy status, and the Israel/Palestine controversy was heating up.  Then what would have been our policy, what would have been our military strategy, had we not moved into Iraq?

My point:  We would be having the same debate today with or without the discovery of weapons of mass destruction.

Race Against Time

Fallon SAN FRANCISCO, CA-- Judge the President by the team he assembles. Take Navy Adm. William Fallon, Bush's nominee to head the U.S. Central Command.  Tough, unflappable during Senate hearings yesterday.  "What we have been doing has not been working," he said. "We have got to be doing, it seems to me, something different." He did not say what might change under his command.

So Senator Levin pressed, 'what change' he asked.  Fallon didn't budge.  Now why in the world would you telegraph your military strategy to the enemy!?

"Time's Running Out".  That's been the case in all wars the U.S. has won.  Can you imagine the press and anti-war nuts during the War in the Pacific, if they had the net, cable, Christiane Amanpour, Ramsey Clark, ANSWER, Jane Fonda, Sean Penn, Keith Olbermann? During the war against Japan, it looked dismal almost hopeless.  Japan seemed invincible (not like the desert rats killing each other in Iraq.)  Island by island, tunnel by tunnel, until a big bang ended it all.

Good choice by the President: Navy Adm. William Fallon

Finally, a Wartime President

SAN FRANCISCO, Ca --- Tonight, President Bush became a bonafide 'wartime president'.  The key skill of a wartime president is to uplift the American spririt with carefully limited military facts and mission, while preventing the enemy from knowing our strategy.

For the first time, he spoke like the commander-in-chief, and not as a politician.  Hidden between the lines is a threat to both Iraq and Iran.  Iraq, this is your last opportunity.  Iran, just like we targeted our enemy in Somalia 48 hours ago, we will target you if you continue to aid the insurgents.

For the first time, he showed he understood the conflict from a military viewpoint.  Whether you disagree with the 'surge', he has his vision of the concluding this conflict.  My opinion:  He's using the Nixon strategy.  In 1973, Nixon resumed the bombing of North Vietnam, massive bombing, unrelentless almost 24 hours per day.  It was a prelude to negotiations.  Bush's "surge" I believe is the same strategy.

There will be movement in the next several months.  Positive, I believe

Why Saddam HAD to Die

        SAN FRANCISCO, Ca ----

I wrote at my personal Blog on March 20th:

"ROME (AFP) - Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi said Saddam Hussein should still be considered Iraq's legal president and the current government illegitimate as it was elected under an occupation regime.

That's the problem we have.  The Libyan "leader" demonstrates it-- Without appearing too cold blooded, I say Saddam must be executed for Iraq to survive as a nation."

Continue reading "Saddam Must Be Executed" »

Now there is another reason he must die:  Terrorist leaders are getting the message.  Each day in Iraq and in Afghanistan, the  media (often relunctantly) is reporting they're being hunted down, by troops and drones, and killed.  In other words, you will pay a price for heading up a terrorist organization.  Saddam, to the moment they put the noose around his neck, will believe himself above reproach.  He will to the very last moment be in denial that he could be taken down.  All terrorist chiefs, drug lords, and think that.  WRONG!

Iraq's Four Wars

SAN FRANCISCO, Ca -- I invite you to read my current article at counterviews.com. I titled it the "The Four Wars of Iraq -- The Northern Ireland Connection".  It's also at AmericanDaily.com, where I've returned as regular columnist.  I welcome your comments.

Political Casting

SAN FRANCISCO, Ca --- Hollywood and Washington are merging more and more.  Since all indications are that the Democrats will probably fund all military supplements for the Iraq War, AND, their leadership are talking about MORE troops for Iraq....  Well, there ain't no THERE there.   In other words, they casted their November movie better than the GOP.  They got veterans, religious liberals, moms, and a variety of great looking characters to run, and won.  What this means is:  The GOP just needs a good casting director in '08.  The voters are looking for stars who can mouth one word:  "Change"...
